I would definitely recommend Guy to anyone looking for an photographer. He took our engagement photos and I had a camera shy fiancé so I was nervous with how it would all go. Thankfully, I had no reason to be nervous with Guy! We both warmed to him immediately. He was full of ideas but also not too pushy and he let us just do whatever felt natural, and was also honest when something didn’t work so we could move on to something else. Guy’s professionalism and relaxed attitude made it both an enjoyable and rewarding experience. I had told Guy beforehand what I was after and he ensured we achieved that on the day. Q. WHAT IS PRE-WEDDING/ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY?
A. It's a couples' photoshoot before your big day designed to showcase your relationship and your love for each other. Your engagement photographer has the job of helping to bring out the best in you and to ensure they photograph you at your best.
If I am photographing your wedding day, it'll give us a chance to get to know each other better, and help you relax in front of the camera ready for your day.
If not, you'll still end up with a great set of photos with a licence to print and distribute amongst your friends and family. You may even want to showcase them on your day!
Q. DO WE NEED TO BE ENGAGED OR GETTING MARRIED TO HAVE AN ENGAGEMENT PORTRAIT SESSION?
A. No, not at all! You may want some lovely, natural photos of you as a couple, so hiring an engagement photographer would suit you perfectly. The concept is still the same.
Q. WE'RE GETTING MARRIED/LIVE ABROAD. WILL YOU STILL PROVIDE OUR ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY?
A. Of course! Brides frequently contact me from other countries asking me this question.
I'm happy to shoot your pre-wedding/couples photography regardless of where you live or whether I'm covering your wedding.
I've recently photographed couples on holiday in Cardiff & Bristol from Singapore, Hong Kong, the USA and the Philippines. They wanted a document of themselves with various Cardiff or Bristol landmarks to take home to show their family and friends.
Q. WHERE CAN YOU COME TO PHOTOGRAPH US?
A. I am based near Cardiff in Caerphilly so prefer to shoot in the South Wales area but am also very happy to travel to Bristol and London.
The City, with its various landmarks and architecture, is very popular with couples.
Also, think about somewhere with meaning to you as a couple. It could be the place where you met or were engaged. I can even come to your own home if you'd prefer.
If Cardiff isn't your preferred choice, I can come to anywhere that's easily accessible. As well as Cardiff, popular South Wales towns for engagement photography are Caerphilly, Newport, Pontypridd, Swansea, Bridgend, Barry, Penarth and Merthyr Tydfil. And Bristol too!
Q. WE'D LIKE TO BOOK YOU AS OUR ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER. HOW DO WE DO THIS?

Q. WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR/BRING TO OUR ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION?
A. As far as the camera is concerned, light and bright is good - I love colours but try to avoid whites and blacks as these are trickier to expose well.
However, if you usually dress in dark clothes, that's fine as it's essential to look like you in the finished photos.
Also bear in mind the season and dress accordingly - shorts and light tops/dresses in summer and coats and scarves for your autumnal or winter shoots. Cardiff is a particularly exposed city and can be very windy, so bear this in mind. Bristol is more sheltered. Accessories are great as well - think sunglasses, bags, hats, jewellery - even pets (dogs work best - leave the goldfish at home!).

Q. HOW WILL YOU EDIT OUR PHOTOGRAPHS? CAN WE CHOOSE?
A. I'll process your photographs in a mixture of colour and black and white as I think suits.

Q. DO YOU PROVIDE ANY PRINTED MEDIA OF OUR PRE-WEDDING SHOOT?
A. An item that has proved popular with couples is the Wedding Guest Book. This is a 60 page hard-back professionally press-printed book featuring the best of your engagement photography. The pages on the right-hand side are left blank for your wedding guests to leave messages of love at your reception - A truly unique keepsake from your special day!
Cardiff has plenty of opportunity for engagement photography with its many parks and open space such as this.
